Joypurhat Judicial Department
During the British rule, Bogra district was formed in 1821 with four police stations in Greater Rajshahi district, two police stations in Rangpur district and three police stations in Dinajpur district. In 1971, the first Jaipurhat subdivision and later in 1984 Jaipurhat district was formed with his participation.
The journey of the Jaipurhat Judiciary began at the then Khanjanpur Khasmahal Kachari Bhawan. Various offices and courts of the Joypurhat sub-division and district level were being run there. In 1984, it separated from Bogra and emerged as Jaipurhat District and in its continuation Jaipurhat District and Sessions Judge Court was established on 28-09-1984 AD. The first district and session judge of this district was Mr. Md. Aftab Uddin. Chief Judicial Magistrate The first Chief Judicial Magistrate in charge of Adalat was Mr. Md. Shamsul Huda. At present, apart from the District and Sessions Judge Courts, two additional District and Sessions Judge Courts, two Joint District Judge Courts, two Senior Assistant Judge Courts, three Assistant Judge Courts are functioning in Joypurhat district. Besides, there are one Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, three Senior Judicial Magistrate Courts and four Judicial Magistrate Courts under the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. On the other hand, judicial proceedings are being conducted in this district through a Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal and a Land Survey Tribunal. Apart from the institutional justice system, all other legal assistance is provided free of cost to the poor including alternative dispute resolution through the District Legal Aid Office.
At present 18th BCS (Judge) batch Judge Mr. Md Nur Islam is working as District and Sessions Judge in this district. 3rd BJS Batch Judge Mr. Md Zahangir Alam is working as Chief Judicial Magistrate. Under their able leadership, all the judicial officers of the Jaipurhat Judicial Division are always playing an active and active role to ensure the right of the justice-seeking people of this district to get justice.
